Definition of “Cycling Safely Without Stabilisers”:

By this we aim to ensure that your child will be able to independently start cycling without stabilisers and then able to stop the bike in a controlled and safe manner.  From this stage it is essential that parents/guardians provide their child with further opportunities to develop, rehearse and reinforce the life skills they have learnt.

What if my child can’t cycle at the end:

A high percentage of children will learn to cycle independently by the end of our course.  Should you feel that your child is not quite there by the end of the fourth lesson, provided they have attended all four lessons and following a short assessment to assess their cycling ability, we are happy to invite you back to our next available course.  But usually this is not the case and a lap or two around the local park with some encouragement is quite often all that is needed.  In exceptional circumstances the possibility of a one on one session will be discussed.

Parents and Guardians:

We request that parents and/or guardians leave their children in our capable hands.  We understand that in some cases children may require time to settle in and for this we allow and understand parents having to stay for a short period of time at the beginning of the course.  Experience has taught us that children progress at a far greater rate when left alone.  They show a higher level of concentration through there being less distraction.  All instructors are DBS Checked and First Aid Trained ensuring your children are in safe hands

Photos

From time to time we may take photos of our lessons for potential marketing purposes.  If you would prefer us not to use photos taken during our lessons please inform us before the course begins.

Behaviour

Positive behaviour is always encouraged.  Should unwanted behaviour occur, parents will initially be informed with a plan being discussed.  Further to this, persistent unwanted behaviour will result in children being removed from the remainder of the course and a refund not being provided.

Arrive on time

To ensure that all children take the relative steps at the same time and to avoid lesson disturbance, we ask that all children arrive on time or even slightly early.

Clothing

It is advised that all participants wear suitable and comfortable clothing for cycling.  For the lower body we recommend trousers, leggings or shorts (dresses/skirts are not suitable).  For the upper body a t-shirt and jumper if necessary.  For footwear we believe trainers or pumps are best.  All our venues are inside, however they can still be cold.  In exceptionally cold conditions we recommend providing your child/children with gloves.
